| Reaching Reggio Emilia from nearby airports is straightforward and convenient. Multiple transport options – trains, shuttle buses, and cars – offer excellent connections without requiring a personal vehicle. Choose from three main airports: Bologna, Milan, or Forlì. |
1. BOLOGNA – Guglielmo Marconi Airport
Bologna is the closest and easiest option.
By car
Approximately 55 minutes (68 km) via highway
By train (raccomanded)
| Suggested Route: Bologna Airport → Bologna Centrale Station → Reggio Emilia Central Station (Regional Train) ■ Step 1: Take the Marconi Express Direct connection from Bologna Airport to Bologna Central Station (7 minutes). Service runs from 5:40 AM to midnight, with up to 8 departures per hour during peak times. ■ Step 2: Take a Regional Train From Bologna Centrale to Reggio Emilia Central Station. Regional trains are the most economical option and stop in the city center. |
PAY ATTENTION: NOTE ON RAILWAY STATIONS
Reggio Emilia has two main stations:
■ Reggio Emilia Central Station (FS – Ferrovie dello Stato, picture n. 1)
Located in the city center, within walking distance (approximately 15 minutes) of all major conference venues. Accessible by foot or bus. The easiest and cheapest arrival option (approximately 50 minutes from Bologna Central Station)
■ Mediopadana Station (High-speed Railway, picture n.2)
Located approximately 4 km outside the city center (approximately 30 minutes from Bologna Central Station). Requires a connection to reach the city:
• By regional train: 7–10 minutes (departures every 30 minutes)
• By bus (Line M – Minibù): approximately 15 minutes (weekdays only)

1. TRENITALIA: for regional train (Reggio Emilia FS Central Station) and hight speed train (Mediopadana Station)
2. ITALO: only for hight speed train (Mediopadana Station)

By car
>> from Linate Airport: approximately 1h and 30 minutes (150 km)
>> from Malpensa Airport: approximately 2h (200 km)
>> Bergamo – Orio al Serio Airport:: approximately 2 hours (190 km)
By train
Departing from ‘Milano Centrale’or ‘Milano Rogoredo’ stations, you can reach either:
>> the Mediopadana High Speed Station (approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour)
>> or the more accessible Reggio Emilia Central Station (1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours).
>> By Malpensa Airport allow additional time to reach Milano Garibaldi or Centrale Station by shuttle or bus.
>> By Linate Airport take Metro Line M4 (operates 5:40 AM to 12:30 AM) directly to Milano Centrale or Milano Rogoredo (see the metro maps)

The Forlì Airport is approximately 1h and 30 minutes from Reggio Emilia (147 km)

From Forlì Airport, you can reach either Reggio Emilia Central Station or Mediopadana High Speed Station in approximately 2 hours.
